The target readership for MOXY is women working at all levels and in all sectors of infrastructure. From C-suite to general laborer, our demographic is generally interested in:

  • Advancing their professional development and / or trade skills

  • Understanding how to best navigate a heavily male-dominated workplace

  • Engaging with a community of female colleagues on matters of mental health, work life balance, sexual harassment, and other challenges

  • Learning about what’s new in their industry

  • Being part of de-stigmatizing general laborer work as a viable career path for women.

She’s Got MOXY

This section is a quick Q&A format with a woman in infrastructure. If you are interested in participating or want to recommend a female colleague for us to reach out to, we want to hear from you! Please complete one of our forms below.

I’m a Mom, Too

For this section, we’re looking for 500- to -1,000 word, first-person articles by working moms in infrastructure. Articles should provide a unique perspective on one or a combination of the following topics: navigating maternity leave, the secrets to balancing work and family, postpartum challenges and mental health, self-care, how being a mom positively influences your professional life / career. Submissions should also include an image of Mom (either at home or in career action) and at least one other photo (e.g., family photo or another relevant photo of choice). BYOB (Be Your Own Boss)

Here, we are showcasing women-owned start-up businesses (we define start-ups as less than 5 years in business). These approximately 1,000-word articles should include the following information:

What were you doing before this business?
How did you get started and what was your inspiration or 'why'?
How many people said you were crazy? If no one, who was especially supportive?
How did you fund this startup?
Did you have a mentor?
What's been the biggest challenge? Biggest risk?
What’s your advice for someone thinking about starting her own business?
How do you or did you celebrate your success?
How do you give a hand to other women?

Infrastructure Features

We want the female project manager or foreperson perspective on job sites. What is her approach to bidding and contracting, designing, subcontractor management, safety awareness, crew morale building, and / or conflict resolution? We also publish issues-based features on matters of legislation, sustainable infrastructure, workforce development, immigration, diversity / equity / inclusion, funding challenges, and more. (800 to 1,500 words) Email submissions to editorial@themoxyvoice.com.

Mental Health

How have you helped de-stigmatized mental health in the workplace? How have you reconciled your mental health with work and personal schedules? Were you ever silently struggling with mental health on the job site or in a board room? If so, how did you cope and eventually get the help you needed? We care about your story. (500 to 1,000 words, first or third person). Email submissions to editorial@themoxyvoice.com.

Leadership

What does it mean to demonstrate good leadership in the workplace? How have you ascended to a position of leadership? Can you tell a story of how you led a team, a colleague or a company out of a tough situation? (500 to 1,000 words, first or third person). Email submissions to editorial@themoxyvoice.com.
